MAXIMIZE YOUR GOLF LIFE

Get your swing to a place where you can scrape the ball around, then practice your short game until you’re confident you can get up and down from anywhere.

What next?

Next comes spending an ungodly amount of time leveraging golf skills, industry connections, and assets (club memberships, society affiliations, etc.) to play golf on coveted and difficult-to-access courses (or at least that’s what came next for me).

I’ve been at this for a long time, long enough to see the idea of golf societies catch on in the US and long enough to see those societies grow to sizes where it is impossible to provide a first-class experience to their members. Great West will cap and waitlist society membership when we have reached 16 members.

Four foursomes allow us to do something more than stay on top of tee times at public courses and churn out far-flung Monday outings at private clubs. We’re building a network for competition, weekly hosted tee times, monthly trips, and thrice annual excursions. As part of society, you will be expected to contribute to this community.

Membership is largely self-selecting, based on these factors:

Geography: We’ll be traveling, but you’ll be best served by our society if you live in, near, or spend a lot of time in Denver.

Playing Ability: With the caveat that scoring ability comes and goes, but good times and good feelings last forever, you should be playing at a level where:

1. You’re invited to play in competitions.

2. You’re not nervous to peg it with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

3. There is absolutely no situation that you fall behind pace.

This is not a hard metric, but we measure golf skills by handicap, and the society is best suited for players who have worked their way to the mid or low singles. Higher singles is fine if you’re working on your game.

Ethos: We’re good players, but we’re primarily out here to gawk at architecture, and to have fun.

Club Affiliations: There is space for eight society members You will be expected to, and incentivized to host at your home club or at clubs where you hold national memberships.

Financial Comittment: This society is something you pay for. You will have the ability to offset these costs by hosting society members at your home club(s).
